Visitation Policy

At Cliffena Cares, the safety, dignity, and emotional well-being of our residents are our highest priorities. In compliance with Florida’s “No Patient Left Alone Act” (Florida Statute § 408.823), we welcome and encourage family and friends to visit their loved ones, ensuring that no resident is ever left without meaningful in-person support.

1. Visiting Hours

  • Daily: 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM

  • Essential Caregivers: May visit outside of regular hours, as arranged with our care team.

We aim to balance open visitation with respect for all residents’ comfort and rest.

2. Essential Caregiver Designation

Florida law ensures that each resident may designate an Essential Caregiver Visitor who:

  • Is permitted to visit in all circumstances, including during health emergencies (e.g., COVID-19).

  • Provides emotional support, companionship, or assistance with care.

  • May visit for at least 2 hours daily, in addition to standard visiting hours.

Residents or their representatives may designate their Essential Caregiver by contacting our front office.

3. General Visitor Guidelines

To keep our community safe and welcoming, visitors are asked to:

  • Check in and out at the reception desk.

  • Wear a visitor badge provided at sign-in.

  • Follow infection-control practices, including hand hygiene and wearing masks when requested.

  • Refrain from visiting if experiencing fever, cough, sore throat, or contagious illness.

4. Children & Pets

  • Children are welcome when accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times.

  • Pets (therapy or service animals) are welcome with prior approval from administration.

5. Overnight Stays

  • Not permitted, except under special end-of-life circumstances with prior arrangement.

6. Respect for Residents’ Privacy

  • Visits should take place in designated common areas, unless a resident invites visitors to their private room.

  • Please be mindful of the privacy, dignity, and quiet time of all residents.

7. Special Circumstances

  • End-of-Life Care: Extended visiting hours and overnight accommodations for loved ones will be arranged compassionately.

  • Emergencies: Visitation will not be suspended. Safety measures may be in place, but in-person visitation cannot be denied under Florida law.

8. Virtual Visits

When family members cannot visit in person, we offer:

  • Video calls (Zoom, FaceTime, or Skype).

  • Phone call assistance for residents.
